Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the most significant festivals in India, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. It is celebrated with immense enthusiasm across the country, marking the end of the nine-day Navratri festival. On this day, effigies of the demon king Ravana, his brother Meghnath, and son Kumbhkaran are burnt in grand displays, signifying the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana, and by extension, the victory of righteousness and dharma.

The festival also celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura, another timeless mythological story that speaks to the power of good defeating evil forces.
